Trump’s Tarriffs on China: Here to Stay?

“President Donald Trump’s trade war with China looks increasingly like it could be a long-term reality, as the countries on Thursday wrapped up two days of talks in Washington without any sign of a major breakthrough.

“We appreciated the Chinese delegation coming to the United States to participate in these meetings,” White House deputy press secretary Lindsay Walters said in a brief statement. “The U.S. delegation will be briefing their principals on the discussions.”

Both countries on Thursday also escalated their tariff battle, imposing additional duties on $16 billion worth of each other’s goods — bringing the total to more than $50 billion in affected exports on each side.”
